GJ Reynolds –The Law of Attraction Continues!!!-Part #3

I want to also thank the rest of the team for the ability to rise to the occasion and always hustle!  For I have always lived by what all of you displayed during that 1972 -1974 run!

As some of you may know, (you can read one of my first blog entries, “My Story”, short version) I went through a bout with depression in 2000-2001.  Was suicide able too.  The grace of God saved me!  What also saved me, was all of those thoughts of the sayings from everyone I mentioned above!  You are good enough, you can do it!  Never ever give up!  Just practice the fundamentals!  These words kept coming into my spirit!  For gentlemen, you guys have assisted me in now being able to tell my story!!!!!!!!!!!
Back to the Law of Attraction!
Five years ago, I told one of my best friends, who happens to also be named Michael, The Arch Angel, that I wanted to assist others.  That my mission and cause was to tell my story.  I also told him that I wanted to connect to the people in my life that had provided inspiration for and to me!  I let him know of the people mentioned above!  He said, “G that will happen for you!”
Two years ago, almost to the day, I was at the Bellagio Hotel and I recognize Coach Dale Brown.  I fastly walked up to him and let him know how he knew me and how we had had a 30+ year relationship.  I also told him how he had had a major impact on me.  We ended up going up to his room, where he presented me with his new book, Memoirs of LSU Basketball, signed it and inscribed to never ever give up!  He also said they should not of cut me from the Tiger Tykes!   He also invited me to come to Baton Rouge and he would take me to lunch and provide me with some real LSU basketball memorabilia!
Wow, The Law of Attraction at work!
To the present! Two days ago, I receive not one, but two separate emails from PathConnect Business Development, of which I have been a part of.  The first email said, “I am trying to get in contact with GJ Reynolds. Would you be so kind to send me his e-mail.Thank you.  Dale Brown Former LSU Basketball Coach.”The second one came moments later!  It said, “Dear GJ, Dale Brown called me re this site. I am in, if possible. we are blazing trails. Ed Palubinskas shooting surgeon Best swishes.”Yes two of my heroes found me!  They were wanting to contact me!  They were just as anxious to talk to me, as I was to talk to them!   Praise the Lord! You see, Coach Dale Brown  was googling something, which led to an article, which led to my PathConnect site!  By reading my Heroes and Icons section, you will see, these people mentioned above are listed!
For the past two days, I have been communicating with “The Shooting Surgeon”  Eddie Palubinskas.  Two time Olympian, Olympic scoring Record Holder,  basketball coach at all levels and #1 Free Throw shooter in the world!
Last night, I had the privilege of receiving a call from Coach, himself.  We spoke for an hour!  We played catch up!  We talked about where we are at and where we are going!  Many similarities and life occurrences!  WOW!  He is also very close to my other favorite Coach, Coach Wooden!   I told him we were talking, because of divine intervention!  I told him we would be sharing the stage and telling others how to operate at a higher level.  I am speaking it!  Thoughts are things!
For those of you reading this,  use this as a lesson,  to put out your intentions you so desire.   Not what you do not want!  What You Want!  Speak it, Write it and Think it!
Success to all!  Thanks Ryan for creating PathConnect.  Paths do connect on PathConnect!  Thanks Coach and Thanks to each of the original “Hustlers”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GJ Reynolds –The Law of Attraction Continues!!!-Part #2

Four of these payers stand out to me.  Eddie Palubinskas was one of the best shooters ever.  Yes ever.  At age 55, he can still shoot 99% from the foul line and 92% from the three!  Too bad he did not have the three point line then!  He was a likeable, fun loving guy.  He seemed to truly like kids and he seemed to like me.  He provided inspiration and had fun interacting with the fans, me being one of them!  Mike Darnall was this great looking model of guy.  He had style! He was intense and could perform under pressure!  He was a solid player!  He was a great defender.  He could shut down any guard!  He was like the rock.  You could tell he had a little wild side to him too.  For some reason, he also took a liking to me too.  I remember that smile when I would go up and provide encouragement and congratulations!   Eddie and Mike were my favorite one two guard attack!  They were different personality wise and complemented each other on the court.  I do not know of their relationship off the court, on the court they were great!

Thanks Eddie for being an elderly friend!  Mike thanks for your strength, sportsmanship and style.  Thanks for showing me, that being the team’s top defender could be glorious!  I modeled my game after both of you and that of “Pistol Pete”  I always wore number 10 and when that was not available, I wore 33.  I named my first son Michael, yes after Mike Darnall!!!
Carl Seiner was just a great guy!  He was primarily a back-up role player.  In my mind, he was a star!  He was always happy and made a point to say hi to me!  I tried out for the original Tiger Tykes, made it to the final cut (hundreds tried out, from all across Louisiana .  I should have made it, however,  I got syked out and could not even make a simple layup.  Carl was in charge of my station and he took me aside and told me I was good enough to make it and to just settle down.  “You can do it”, he said.  “I am pulling for you!”
Although I did not make it, he provided a simple belief that I was good enough!  Afterwards, he said, “You are good enough to make it and with a little more practice, you will make it next year!”   I did not get the chance to try out the next year, because we moved to Kansas.  Those words have always stayed with me, “You can do it!”  You are good enough!  I am pulling for you!
Thanks Carl for pulling me aside and helping me out!  I knew in my heart then, you were pulling for me!
Collis Temple was my first minority hero.  He was the very first Black player, to play at LSU!  Although I never got as close to him as I did Eddie, Mike and Carl, he was always cordial and showed me that color did not make the man, heart and character did!  He was a solid physical talent and he was competitive!  He was a hustler!  He had the team’s back!  As displayed in that Vanderbilt game, when Wade Evans was in trouble.  Wow.  Thanks Collis for what you showed me from afar!

GJ Reynolds –The Law of Attraction Continues!!!-Part #1

This is long and well worth the read!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow is all I can say!  I just experienced first hand the true power of the Law of Attraction!
Several of my goals over the past several years has been to re-kindle the relationship of the people who have had an impact on the man I have become.  There are many and there are many more to come, I am sure!  Several that stand out, were the coaching staff and the players of the 1972 – 1974 LSU Baskeball team.
I was eleven years old then.  A new master motivator came to town, Coach Dale Brown, originally from Minot, South Dakota.  A football town, at that!  Baton Rouge, Louisianna!  He was a preacher of basketball and of life!  He was on a mission and he had a cause!  His cause was to revive the LSU basketball program!  In my opinion, it was never alive!  “Pistol Pete” Maravich was Showtime, but the teams of the past, never really did much!  So, in my opinion, he was on a mission to create a program that would seek the glory years of other stand out programs.
He handed out positive affirmations, personal growth stories, quotes, “To never ever give up”, etc…  He was everywhere, like superman!  He was selling his team and LSU basketball as a way of life!!!!  I attended every event, open practice, photo shoot, clinic.  What ever was being put on, I was there!  I BOUGHT IN!!!!!!  He also  brought in a fresh new coaching staff! Jack Schallow and Homer Drew.  He brought in and consulted with some of the very best coaching minds of all time, John Wooden and Adolph Rupp!
(Side note,  because he did this I had the pleasure of meeting both of them at the same time.   Coach Wooden said I looked like a fine young man and to focus on the fundamentals, practice and to never give up and you can go far!  He then patted me on the head.  Coach Rupp said to do what he said (Coach Wooden) and you will be just fine!  He then patted me on the head too!  Also in that mix was Bob Petit, Rod Milburn, and Governor Edwin Edwards.  I have all of their autographs (except the Governor’s, he was not important to me.) and that program in my office!  How many people can say that they have met two of the greatest coaches of all time, the World Record Holder in the High Hurdles and one of the 50 greatest basketball players of all time, at the same time?
What I realized later in life, was how that was a defining moment in my life!  November 10, 1973!  Two of the greatest coaches had given me positive affirmations!  I was fine, I was young!  I could do it!  To never give up!  All I had to do was focus on the fundamentals, to practice and I could go far!  Those few words have helped define who I am today!  Wow.  I get goose bumps from it!).   All thanks to Coach Dale Brown!  Coach Brown had uttered the exact same words to me also!
For Coach Dale Brown knew how to raise the bar for himself and for those around him!  That very first LSUteam was called “The Hustlers”!  They were picked to finish dead last and to not win more than two games all year.  I believe their record was a respectable 14-14.  More importantly, they were winners!  They played team ball!  They never gave up!  They raised the bar.   I believe the very first game was against Memphis State, at home!  They two All Americans and were a top ten team.  Guess what, we spanked them!  Memphis State went on to the Championship game, later in 1973, where they lost to Bill Walton and UCLA.  Coached by none other, John Wooden.
Before each game, I would go up to Coach Brown and tell him good luck tonight!  I also did the same to many of the players!  Eddie Palubinskas, Mike Darnall, Carl Seiner, Collis Temple, Wade Evans, Ed LeBlanc, to name a few!  I remember those early years at LSU (1972-1974) like they were yesterday!  I was a very lucky kid.  I got to go to all of the open practices, camps, events, and games that went on those first two years!  Several highlights for me included getting to go to that Purple/Gold dinner and meet Adolph Rupp and John Wooden, sitting on the bench for that first win over Kentucky (January 5, 1974) and then again against Auburn later that season.  There are many more and I could go on and on!

A Hopeful Future!

Here is a daily devotion from the Purpose Driven Life.  The Amazing, Articulate and HandsomeCoach Dale Brown (former LSU Basketball Coach), sent this on to me!  Enjoy.  GJ Reynolds

A Hopeful Future
by Jon Walker“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you … thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” (Jeremiah 29:11 KJV).
Discipleship — When you hear about the sickening shootings at Virginia Tech, it’s only human to wonder if God is fully engaged in the events of this world. Why, God, do you allow these things to happen?  Over the years, as I’ve shouted this question to God, grappling to understand the explosion of evil into the lives of good people, I’ve encountered what seemed to be an unsettling silence from God. I know that his Word tells us evil exists in this world because of sin, and that the fists of the Evil One are indiscriminate, hammering on the innocent along with the guilty. God’s Word also teaches that the Evil One will take direct aim at us as we walk more closely with God. But, still, why, God, do you allow these things to happen? I say it seemed like unsettling silence from God until one day, in the Divine’s still, small voice, I sensed God asking me a question in return – you know, the way Jesus often said to the Pharisees, “I’ll answer your question after you answer mine.
”God’s question: “Jon, do you serve the One True God (Deut. 6:4), or do you serve the ‘god of understanding it all.’” More questions followed: “Are you trying to be the god of understanding, believing that if you can just understand what is going on, then – and only then – you’ll be able to accept it, live with it, or live through it? Is your faith in me based on what you understand, or is it based on your faith in my hand?”When we’re facing trouble, we often quote Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV): “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you … thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Listen carefully: God is telling us that we may misunderstand his plans for us, that we may wrongly perceive his plans as evil, but those plans are the very thing — the only thing — that will give us, literally, “a hopeful future.”To echo Eugene Peterson, in the midst of our distress, we think that we’re being pushed to the very edge of our existence; but once there, we realize we’ve been pressed into the very center of God. The peace that God speaks of in Jeremiah is not an absence of conflict; it’s about wholeness (shalom). It’s about becoming a people who are whole again because we are face to face with God, learning to think, not like mere men, but like God.
So what?· Nasty now and now – The things we truly believe emerge in what Peter Lord calls the “nasty now and now.” Your faith is hammered out in the everyday, mundane experiences of your life, and when you face the fists of the Evil One. Faith is not resolved in heady discussions about the nature of evil.·
God is at work – Like a dormant tree in winter that appears to be dead until the buds of spring, God is always at work in our lives and throughout the world – even today on the campus of Virginia Tech. Don’t assume the tree is dead in winter; look expectantly toward the buds of spring.·
Seek God’s face – Seek God’s face, instead of seeking to understand. Trust that God will give you insight and understanding when the time is right. Until then, he’s developing your faith in him.

How to Compound Your SUCCESS By: Darren Hardy

Every choice you make has an impact on the Compound Effect of your life. This chapter is about becoming aware of and making choices that support the expansion of your life. Sounds complicated, but you’ll be amazed by its simplicity.

No longer will 99 percent of your choices be unconscious. No more will most of your daily routines and traditions come as a reaction to your programming. You’ll ask yourself (and be able to answer) “How many of my behaviors have I not ‘voted on’? What am I doing that I didn’t consciously choose to do, yet continue to do every day?”
By employing the same idiot-proof strategies I’ve used to catapult my own life and career, strengthened by the Compound Effect, you’ll be able to loosen the mysterious grip of the things that are unwinding your life and pulling you in the wrong direction. You’ll be able to hit the Pause button before stumbling into idiot territory. You’ll experience the ease of making decisions that lead to behaviors and habits that support you, every time.
Your biggest challenge isn’t that you’ve intentionally been making bad choices. Heck, that would be easy to fix. Your biggest challenge is that you’ve been sleepwalking through your choices. Half the time, you’re not even aware you’re making them! Our choices are often shaped by our culture and upbringing. They can be so entwined in our routine behaviors and habits that they seem beyond our control. For instance, have you ever been going about your business, enjoying life, when all of a sudden you made a stupid choice or series of small choices that ultimately sabotaged your hard work and momentum, all for no apparent reason? You didn’t intend to sabotage yourself, but by not thinking about your decisions–weighing the risks and potential outcomes–you found yourself facing unintended consequences. Nobody intends to become obese, go through bankruptcy, or get a divorce, but often (if not always) those consequences are the result of a series of small, poor choices.
You alone are responsible for what you do, don’t do, or how you respond to what’s done to you. This empowering mindset revolutionized my life. Luck, circumstances, or the right situation wasn’t what mattered. If it was to be, it was up to me. I was free to fly. No matter who was elected president, how badly the economy tanked, or what anybody said, did, or didn’t do, I was still 100 percent in control of me. Through choosing to be officially liberated from past, present, and future victimhood, I’d hit the jackpot. I had the unlimited power to control my destiny.

Finding Balance Between Work & Home

If tomorrow were the last day of your life, what would you do? With whom would you spend your time?

It’s a question Tony Robbins often asks. And it’s one that makes many of us stop and think about our priorities in life, especially since a majority of us spend more time working than we do at home with our families. More than 25 million Americans work at least 49–59 hours a week. So much time away from home often leads to stress, the No. 1 health problem according to the American Institute of Stress. The institute’s research also indicates that nearly 80 percent of all illnesses are either caused by or made worse by stress.
With so many hours spent “on the clock” and the potential damage it can cause, you can see why it’s so important to find more balance between work and family. So what do we do? How do we get things done and still have time and energy to experience and enjoy the special moments with those we care about most?
Try incorporating Tony’s “Three Master Steps to Lasting Change” as a tool to help establish a better connection with your family.
Get Leverage
Raise your standards by turning your “shoulds” into “musts.” As soon as you find yourself saying, “I should go home,” do it! Stop denying yourself the pleasure of going home to your loved ones. Make an effort to notice the time you are not spending with your family and associate pain with it. Realize your goals for your entire life and be cognizant when you start giving too much attention to just work.
Change Your Limiting Beliefs
The English poet John Dryden once said, “We first make our habits, and then our habits make us.” Interrupt those patterns. Instead of making a long list of things you need to accomplish in a day, try making a list of outcomes that actually mean something to you and your family. End your psychological torment! If you are not able to get everything accomplished, remind yourself that tomorrow is another day.
Create an Empowering Alternative
You may have patterns that you follow every day, every week, every month—ones you can count on daily in order to establish some semblance of structure and forward progress in your life. Although these patterns may be comfortable, they also may be holding you back from accomplishing what’s really important to you. Try changing some of your day-to-day routines and incorporate more “big picture” strategies to help establish a deeper sense of meaning with your family.
You can get more information about these Master Steps directly from Tony at UNLEASH THE POWER WITHIN, where you’ll also learn his newest technologies for creating a richer sense of passion, joy, and fulfillment in your life. In the meantime, summertime is a special time of year, so here are some creative ways to help make the most of the time you spend with your family. Ultimately, these tools will help create more balance in your life and allow you to more effectively serve yourself and your family.
