Do Your Best

What’s so revolutionary about the idea of choosing the effort to do your best? Coach Wooden focused on his effort to do his best. He chose to compete within himself and translated this concept to his teams. Even after winning consecutive national championships, Coach Wooden chose more. He asked his teams to play their best each and every game.

Coach Wooden began every season by talking about the competition. He told his players to focus on what they controlled: their thoughts, words, and actions. He said when they played their best, they would be successful. When they chose to play without playing their best, then they would never be successful, no matter how many games they won.
