The Career Mindset—Change Your Limiting Beliefs!

Do you think you’re too old or too young to be considered for a particular position? Do you see yourself as inexperienced or overqualified for a position that would really get you excited about life again?

Stop that!
Instead of focusing on what you feel you can’t do and what you think you don’t have, focus on what you do bring to the table—it’s likely more than you think! If you raise your standards but don’t really believe you can meet them, you’ve already sabotaged yourself. Our beliefs are like unquestioned commands, telling us what we can and cannot do. They shape every action, thought and feeling we experience. Changing our beliefs is central to making any real and lasting changes in our lives. Without changing your beliefs, you can raise your standards as much as you like, but you’ll never have the conviction to back them up. How much would Gandhi have accomplished had he not believed in the power of nonviolent opposition with every fiber of his being? It was the congruence of his belief, which enabled him to meet challenges that would have slain a less committed man. Empowering beliefs, this sense of certainty, is the force behind all great success. The ideas are inside you—focus on them rather than on the beliefs that limit you.
Move Your Standards Higher
No matter where you are right now, strive towards something higher. If you own your own business, think about ways to expand. If you work in a corporate office, think about new skills you could master that would make you even more valuable to your organization. The standards you set for yourself should be higher than the standards anyone else sets for you!
Change Your Strategy
If you try something and it doesn’t work, what do you usually do? Most people give up surprisingly quickly—but it’s those who persevere that eventually do succeed. For example, did you know that Walt Disney went to more than 300 banks before he got the loan that helped him open Disneyland? It’s easy to imagine that people probably just laughed at him and his “crazy” idea of some fantasyland of fun. Thankfully, Walt used his creativity and trusted his vision even in the face of seemingly endless rejection.
The key to this kind of success and fulfillment is to figure out what it is you really want, focus on your outcome, and commit to doing whatever it takes to get there. How many times should you change your strategy? As many times as it takes to achieve your outcome!
Use a life management system that helps you avoid the pitfalls of to-do lists and, instead, focus on the actual outcome you want and why it is that you want it.  This can help you coordinate and organize your life in a way that allows for constant attention to how you can CANI your career, your business, and your personal life, all in one simple system.

3 Ways to Boost Your Energy!

Chances are, you have a job. Perhaps even a stressful one. Add a family, a personal life and daily errands into the mix and your energy level can quickly become zapped. If you’re feeling worn out, tired and exhausted regularly, here are some simple ways you can channel hidden energy you didn’t know you had. Spoiler alert: They’re not caffeine.

1. Don’t Hold Your Breath
When we are stressed, we tend to inhale quickly and hold our breath. Don’t do that. Really, it’s bad. Try “diaphragmatic breathing”; it’s the same technique taught by yoga instructors worldwide. Simply sit straight up with good posture, put one hand on your chest and the other on your stomach. Inhale slowly through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth. As you breathe, you’ll feel your stomach expand, meaning your diaphragm is filling your lungs with air. Good job. Now rest and repeat.
2. Ditch the Second Cup
Coffee is notorious for being the fuel behind a quick pick-me-up, but drinking several cups a day can lead to burnout. As in crash and burn. Wean your way down to one cup a day. If you’re hooked on the flavor, try a great-tasting tea blended with chicory, carob or roasted barley.
3. Recharge Your Batteries
This means eat more alkaline-forming foods. Good eats like figs, leafy greens, almonds and cantaloupe are staples of alkaline-based diets and have been proven to prevent aliments like kidney stones and osteoporosis. Plus, they’re often recommended to treat a lack of energy. Oh, and they taste good-which is always a plus.

9 Simple Secrets to Advertising

The television show I was watching last night was punctuated by some pretty crazy ads. I saw flying cars and a talking toilet.

To judge from those ads, you might think that you need to be a creative advertising genius to get your customers to buy anything from you. Not so. These classic approaches can get your message across simply, without breaking your advertising budget:
  1. Target the competition by giving facts about why your product or service works better, costs less, or has other basic advantages.
  2. Just show your product attractively. (This doesn’t work if you have an ugly product.)
  3. Showcase your brand. Just remind your customer about the positive attributes of your brand while you display your product.
  4. Use testimonials from satisfied customers.
  5. Have a celebrity or expert endorse your product.
  6. Simply remind customers to use your product if they have not been doing so lately. Sometimes they forget that you are there.
  7. Provide a toll-free number to make it easy for customers to make an impulsive decision to contact you.
  8. Give a slice of life by showing people using your product in real-life situations.
  9. Offer discounts, gifts or special promotions.
It’s all simple stuff, but these days simplicity can make you stand out from the advertising clutter. I think that most people are getting a little tired of talking toilets and flying cars anyhow. Aren’t you?

Career, Health and Vitality!

When was the last time you felt truly energized both at work and at home? Can you recall a time when you felt vital, vibrant and ready to take on the world? Hopefully you can say yes to that, but if you can’t you’re not alone.

Anyone who’s seen Tony Robbins on stage has asked, “How the heck does he do it?” How is it possible that this one man can not only speak on stage for days at a time at events, but very often leave that stage and immediately head to the next one, just in time to start another event? Not to mention that he finds time to produce products, create and run businesses, and have a fulfilling family life! The secret doesn’t come in a bottle or a pill, it’s not a miracle cure or an energy shot; what makes it possible for Tony to maintain the unbelievably high energy level you see on stage, is that he believes in a balanced approach to health and vitality. He takes care of his physical body, through excellent nutrition and exercise regimens, but he also knows that it’s important to maintain the strength of another set of muscles—the emotional muscles. And that’s where a lot of people miss out on experiencing the most of life, they forget to tighten, strengthen, and tone their emotions while they focus on biceps and quads.
Today our world is in a frenetic spin. Thousands of daily responsibilities and pressures take a tremendous toll on our physical bodies, greatly affecting our energy levels. This is a vicious circle we put ourselves into because the careers and lifestyle we choose demand high energy, yet that very vibrancy is what most people severely lack.
We all know that maintaining high energy is key to keeping a body healthy and a mind sharp. We’ve heard that stress ills and eventually kills. We know we need a balance as the lines between work and play, home and office bleed into a single puddle of exhaustion, burnout and an utter breakdown.
But how the heck do we achieve that?
There are many possible solutions that might help increase energy for short periods of time: such as caffeine and sugar. The thing is that if you rely solely on one or two things, it’s just not going to work in the long haul. For instance, say you drank coffee and took vitamins, but didn’t bother to get much sleep or take an occasional walk around the block here and there. Coffee and vitamins can only go so far. Yes, it all goes back to that balance thing again.
Maintaining a healthy body means maintaining a healthy mindset. There is no way that one can happen without the other. You’ve got to switch the juice on at the brain and let it run through your arms and legs, heart and soul, career and lifestyle.
One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself is to direct the focus of your mind toward empowering thoughts so that it can heal your body instead of weakening it. Yes, you’ve heard that before, but really think about putting it into action in these practical ways today, right now:
Pay Inside Attention
What you say to yourself can make or break you from the inside out. Even just focusing your language on words that describe the gratitude you have in your life, rather than how much you have to get done today, will creative a tremendous shift in how you feel. Seriously. Try it. Try it now. Do it when you’re drinking your water and taking your vitamins. Do it while you’re peddling around the world on your stationary bike in the gym. Focus on gratitude. Focus on compassion. Reach deep inside for it because it’s there just waiting to come out.
Create an All-Encompassing Personalized Program. Put together a program that includes eating healthy, exercising and building a strong physiology for your physical and emotional body. Flex all those muscles and feed them well with the good stuff they need to sustain you during your special time on this planet. And it is special—don’t let the to-do lists and upwardly mobile mindset convince you otherwise.
Pick a Team
A support system can be very helpful in ensuring that you create a system that you can stick to. Rallying friends and family who support you is vital to your success— and is why, incidentally, you’re not the only person on earth. A coaching program is an excellent option to explore as well. After all, at the end of the day, you can never have too many people in your cheering section!

Fighting For the Family!

Family1

How can two people who love and care for each other, with a 15-year history and two young children, be so close to splitting up?
It was an experience Tony encountered at a DATE WITH DESTINY seminar when a man named Paul stood up and declared he was thinking about leaving his wife, but he was concerned that if he did, he would lose his sense of identity. Suddenly, the man’s wife, Jen, got up and stood tearfully at his side. Here were two people who obviously loved each other but who were bracing themselves for divorce. How does this happen?

Tony realized that the couples’ challenge resided in the way they met their needs. The basis of Human Needs Psychology is that we all have six primary needs—certainty, uncertainty, significance, connection, growth, and contribution—that must be met, whether in good or harmful ways.
In our busy lives, it is often easy to look beyond our family and spouse in order to meet these needs. We develop habits in our work, networks of friends, interests, and hobbies. Along the way, this can get out of balance. In Paul and Jen’s case, both had developed ways of meeting their personal needs outside of the relationship—through extended family, their children, and work—so that their love for each other became secondary.

Tony took Paul and Jen through a process that helped them develop a way to serve each other more deeply and lovingly. They made commitments to each other and completely changed their lives. Today, they are passionately in love, feeling the deep fulfillment of meeting each other’s most important needs.
Below is a link to the 8-minute clip from “Return From the Edge: Creating Everlasting Love,” the soon-to-be-released film from the Robbins-Madanes Center for Strategic Intervention. It begins from the moment Paul stands up with his problem. The process can help apply the six needs in your own life and how you can use them to build upon the relationship with your family and loved ones.

The Robbins-Madanes Center for Strategic Intervention is dedicated to promoting greater harmony and effectiveness in social systems ranging from families to corporations, and to government and nongovernmental organizations. Anthony Robbins and CloƩ Madanes have joined forces in their effort to find solutions to interpersonal conflicts, to prevent violence and to contribute to the creation of a more cohesive and civil community. Their vision is to develop the field of Strategic Intervention integrating elements from a variety of social science, business and political perspectives, in order to form a unified field of strategic practice.

John Wooden’s Definition of Success-Part #3

What’s so revolutionary about the idea of making the effort to do your best? Just this: the reason Coach Wooden was such a consistent winner was that he never settled for winning. Winning wasn’t enough. Even winning National Championships wasn’t enough. Wooden wanted more. He wanted his teams to play their best. Every game. Against weak teams and against strong teams. He knew there were too many ways to win a game you didn’t deserve to win, too many ways to win without giving your best effort. And he knew there were too many ways to lose when you didn’t give your best effort.

It was that effort that Wooden was looking for. For him, that was the reason to compete. Not to win, but to make the effort to be your best. To make the most of the talent God has given you. To make the effort to become the best human being you can become. Wooden taught–and proved–that if you make that effort, winning will take care of itself.
Think how much higher his standard is, than is the standard that most people live by. In Wooden’s world, you have to do more than come out on top; you have to make the effort to do your best. Winning is the by-product of that effort. Winning isn’t the cake; it’s just the icing. The cake is peace of mind, the peace of mind that can come only from the self-knowledge that you have made the effort to do your best.
Imagine how this might play in your own life. Have you ever gotten an “A” on a test you didn’t study for? Have you ever been given a raise from your boss, even though you knew in your heart that you hadn’t earned it? Have you ever won a sale that you didn’t deserve?
Instead of winning, what if from now on your objective was to make the effort to do the very best of which you are capable? How much better would you perform? More importantly, how much better would you feel? What would your life be like if you refused to settle merely for winning, but insisted instead on the peace of mind that comes from the self-satisfaction of knowing that you have made the effort to do your best?
When you think about it, there is a profound irony that surrounds the career of John Wooden. As a coach, he was measured by winning. But he won by refusing to measure himself by winning. He insisted on a higher standard, the standard of making the effort to do your best.
Why is that a higher standard? Because we can’t fool ourselves. So much of what passes for success is a matter of how we appear to other people. But Wooden has always been concerned with how we appear to ourselves. Are we giving our best? We might be able to fool others with half an effort, but in our own heart we will always know the truth. That is the truth that Wooden thinks we should live by.
Is he right or wrong? This March, tune in on the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Gauge the caliber of the athletes, the coaches, and the competition. Notice how much is at stake and how hard the competitors work for the ultimate victory. See for yourself how difficult it is to win even a single championship. And then remember the man who won ten.

John Wooden’s Definition of Success-Part #2

John Wooden’s Definition of Success-Part #2

Years ago I read a magazine interview with Coach Wooden in which he was asked how he scouted the competition before a game. He said, in effect: We don’t worry about the competition; we worry about ourselves. We don’t go out to try to beat somebody; we go out to play the very best we can.
There it was in black and white, staring up at me from the pages of that magazine. It was John Wooden’s secret of the ages, the answer to the question: “How did he do it?” But I didn’t understand it. I wasn’t ready for it. I thought that the heart and soul of competitive athletics was to know your opponent. Wasn’t that why coaches and athletes spent hours watching films of their competition? I thought that Wooden must not have been telling the whole story. His “secret” didn’t make sense to me, so I ignored it.
A few years ago, I had the privilege to preview an intriguing new cassette album called The Pyramid of Success, featuring Jim Harrick and John Wooden, from Nightingale-Conant. The “Pyramid” was created by John Wooden in the 1930s. He has been teaching it to others ever since. It elegantly describes his philosophy about life, work, and success.
On the way home from the office that evening I popped Wooden’s portion of the program into my stereo before I even had the car in gear. What a treat it was to hear his familiar voice sharing stories about his youth, his teaching career, and his remarkable years as a basketball coach. I was in heaven listening to that tape, cruising through the star-draped countryside of the beautiful rural county where I used to live.
Then Coach Wooden began to talk about competition. He said that he told his basketball players not to worry about the other team, but to worry about themselves. He said that if they played their very best, they would be successful. If they didn’t play their best, then they would never be successful, no matter how many games they won. Let me say that again: John Wooden taught his players that if they didn’t play their very best, then they would never be successful, no matter how many games they won.
It was deja-vu all over again. I thought back to that article I had read so many years before, and I felt the same reaction I felt then. Wooden must be leaving something out. Surely he must have worried about his competition. Surely he must have scouted the teams he had to face. After all, that’s what everybody else did.
And then I finally struck brain. For twenty years I had been trying to figure out what made John Wooden different. And he had been telling me all along. What made him different was this: the winningest coach in the history of college basketball didn’t worry about winning. He worried about making the effort to do his best. He didn’t try to do what everybody else did, so he never limited himself to their results. He didn’t compete with everybody else, so everybody else couldn’t compete with him.
I was still in my car when this finally sunk in, but I started scribbling notes as fast as I could write. That’s not such a smart thing to do at 60 miles an hour, especially at night, but I couldn’t wait long enough to slow down. I had to get on paper the answer to the question I had been asking myself for thirty years. I had to find exactly the right way to phrase it. I had to reduce it to a simple thought, a simple rule for success. And then Coach Wooden did it for me. He said:
“Success is peace of mind that can be obtained only from the self-satisfaction of knowing that you have made the effort to do the very best of which you are capable.”
I rewound the tape and played that phrase again. And again. And again. I felt like I had just discovered the Hope diamond. John Wooden was teaching me something that I should have learned way back when I was a Boy Scout. But it never sank in—until that moment. Success is making the effort to do your best. Do that, and you can never fail. Don’t do that, and you can never succeed.

John Wooden’s Definition of Success-Part #1

They call it “March Madness”. Every Spring, the sixty-four best teams in major college basketball square off in the NCAA Basketball Tournament, one of the most hotly contested tournaments in all of sports. Many are called but only one is chosen, and when the smoke clears, the team left standing is declared the National Champion.

How competitive is this tournament? Since 1975, only twice has a team won back-to-back National Championships. So it’s remarkable to realize that during the twelve years prior to 1975, a single college won seven National Championships in a row, and a total of ten championships in twelve years.
When that streak of championships began, I was in grade school. The man who coached those teams was one of my heros. He was known as the winningest coach in the history of college basketball. Looking back, I would say that’s an understatement.
Since he retired in 1975, only one major college team has gone undefeated through an entire basketball season. But his teams accomplished this four times. They compiled the longest winning streak in the history of the game: eighty-eight straight victories. That’s two and a half years without a loss. And in perhaps their greatest achievement, over a span of eight years, competing against the very best teams in the country, who were playing their very best basketball, at the time of year when a single loss would have meant the season was over, this man’s teams won forty-seven NCAA Tournament games in a row.
As if those numbers aren’t impressive enough, consider this: the man coached in an era when freshman couldn’t play on the varsity, so he had to replace his entire team every three years. Every three years he and his remarkable coaching staff had to start from scratch. In winning seven straight National Championships, they had to do it with three completely different sets of players. That is the stuff of legend. The legend’s name is John Wooden. He was the head coach of the UCLA basketball team.
Whether you’re a sports fan or not, John Wooden leaps out at you as one of the greatest achievers of our time. For those looking to unlock the mysteries of human potential, Wooden’s life should be required reading. His accomplishments in his line of work are so far beyond what anyone else has even approached that they shout this question: “How did he do it?” I’ve been asking myself that for thirty years. And I’ve finally found the answer.

More Than “Just A Business”!

Would you jump out of an airplane with a parachute that would only open 2 out of 100 times? Most would say NO WAY!

“But, you are – right now (pause) – if you are following ‘the formula.’”
“So, what’s this formula?”
The formula that produces a 98% Failure Rate is:
Go to school, study hard, get good grades, get a degree, and get a good JOB. Isn’t this what we’re all taught from the time we’re young?
It’s a formula that produces a 98% failure rate.
According to the Social Security Administration, out of every 100 people who reach the age 65:
45% are financially dependent on relatives
 30% live on charity
23% still work only 2% are self-sustaining in retirement
As you can see, following this formula that most everyone follows, produces a 98% failure rate. These stats come directly from our own Governmental agency.
I believe the our business model is a better way!
We have people in the company who, after only short period of consistent, persistent effort are earning BIG MONEY – much more than they could ever earn working a JOB. I’m talking $100,000 a year and some people FIVE TIMES that! They also have a business that gives them control of their time. Time to wake up when they want, spend time with family, travel, own their dream home, and have a completely secure retirement.
So why would anyone want to work for 40+ years, at a JOB they hate, for a small income – with a 98% chance of financial failure at retirement when they could work within the Business Model for 2-5 years and retire financially independent with a six-figure income for life? Don’t ask me!
In addition to the time and the money, our compay provides many intangible benefits you can be proud of. We are helping people with a life changing product, helpingothers develop financial security, and making new friends around the world. This is MORE THAN A BUSINESS – IT’S A LIFESTYLE. When you get that down you’ll be a massive success.
The security, the peace of mind, and the principals and values to live by are amazing. I would encourage all to realize that this is so very much more than “just a business.”
I hope you REJECT the parachute I talked about earlier and help other ambitious, intelligent people to REJECT it as well. There is a much better way.
We’ll hope to see you on the beaches of the world…

Enterprise is Better than Ease

If we are involved in a project, how hard should we work at it? How much time should we put in?

Our philosophy about activity and our attitude about hard work will affect the quality of our lives. What we decide about the rightful ratio of labor to rest will establish a certain work ethic. That work ethic – our attitude about the amount of labor we are willing to commit to future fortune – will determine how substantial or how meager that fortune turns out to be.
Enterprise is always better than ease. Every time we choose to do less than we could, this error in judgment has an effect on our self-confidence. Repeated every day, we soon find ourselves not only doing less than we should, but also being less than we could. The accumulative effect of this error in judgment can be devastating.
— Fortunately, It Is Easy To Reverse The Process —
Any day we choose we can develop a new discipline of doing rather than neglecting. Every time we choose action over ease or labor over rest, we develop an increasing level of self-worth, self-respect and self-confidence. In the final analysis, it is how we feel about ourselves that provides the greatest reward from any activity. It is not what we get that makes us valuable, it is what we become in the process of doing that brings value into our lives. It is activity that converts human dreams into human reality, and that conversion from idea into actuality gives us a personal value that can come from no other source.
So feel free to not only engage in enterprise, but also to enjoy it to it’s fullest along with all the benefits that are soon to come!

Success is Easy and so is Neglect

People often ask me how I became successful in that six-year period of time while many of the people I knew did not. The answer is simple: The things I found to be easy to do, they found to be easy not to do. I found it easy to set the goals that could change my life. They found it easy not to. I found it easy to read the books that could affect my thinking and my ideas. They found that easy not to. I found it easy to attend the classes and the seminars, and to get around other successful people. They said it probably really wouldn’t matter. If I had to sum it up, I would say what I found to be easy to do, they found to be easy not to do. Six years later, I’m a millionaire and they are all still blaming the economy, the government and company policies, yet they neglected to do the basic, easy things.
In fact, the primary reason most people are not doing as well as they could and should, can be summed up in a single word: neglect.
It is not the lack of money – banks are full of money. It is not the lack of opportunity – America, and much of the free World, continues to offer the most unprecedented and abundant opportunities in the last six thousand years of recorded history. It is not the lack of books – libraries are full of books – and they are free! It is not the schools – the classrooms are full of good teachers. We have plenty of ministers, leaders, counselors and advisors.
Everything we would ever need to become rich and powerful and sophisticated is within our reach. The major reason that so few take advantage of all that we have is simply, neglect.
Neglect is like an infection. Left unchecked it will spread throughout our entire system of disciplines and eventually lead to a complete breakdown of a potentially joy-filled and prosperous human life.
Not doing the things we know we should do causes us to feel guilty and guilt leads to an erosion of self-confidence. As our self-confidence diminishes, so does the level of our activity. And as our activity diminishes, our results inevitably decline. And as our results suffer, our attitude begins to weaken. And as our attitude begins the slow shift from positive to negative, our self-confidence diminishes even more … and on and on it goes.
So my suggestion is that when giving the choice of “easy to” and “easy not to” that you do not neglect to do the simple, basic, “easy”; but potentially life-changing activities and disciplines.
To Your Success,
Jim Rohn

We must never allow a day to pass without finding the answers to a list of important questions such as: What is going on in our industry? What new challenges are currently facing our government? Our community? Our neighborhood? What are the new breakthroughs, the new opportunities, the new tools and techniques that have recently come to light? Who are the new personalities that are influencing world and local opinion?

We must become good observers and astute evaluators of all that is going on around us. All events affect us, and what affects us leaves an imprint on what we will one day be and how we will one day live.
One of the major reasons why people are not doing well is because they keep trying to get through the day. A more worthy challenge is to try to get from the day. We must become sensitive enough to observe and ponder what is happening around us. Be alert. Be awake. Let life and all of its subtle messages touch us. Often, the most extraordinary opportunities are hidden among the seemingly insignificant events of life. If we do not pay attention to these events, we can easily miss the opportunities.
So be a good observer of both life and the world around you.
To Your Success,
 Jim Rohn

3 million people share a secret…
…that could change your world forever.
Forget all the gimmicky health and weight loss promises you’ve ever heard, seen, smelled or tasted. No miracle pills. No diet or exercise fads. No next best thing.
It all boils down to one simple thing: Focusing on your first 10 lbs.
The key to finally achieving long-term weight-loss results in 2014 lies in those first 10 lbs. After all, nobody ever lost 25, 50 or 100 lbs. without losing their first 10. Might seem obvious, but is it really? You have to set attainable goals. Track your progress. And celebrate every victory. Just ask the 3,000,000+ ViSalus rock stars who’ve experienced the phenomenon firsthand.
That’s why we’re Challenging the World… 10 lbs. at a Time.
We call it the PROJECT 10™ Challenge.
Challenge yourself to lose 10 lbs., or build 10 lbs. of muscle, with PROJECT 10™. Then Challenge others to do the same. The more you Challenge, the more fun it is, and the more likely you ALL are to succeed. For every 10 lbs. lost, you can win money and help PROJECT 10™ Kids.
Today we celebrate a major milestone, with $500,000 already awarded to PROJECT 10 winners.
And the best part? We’re just getting started.
Whether your New Year’s resolution is to lose weight, get fit or help someone else rock their goals, we Challenge YOU to follow through.

A True Story by Napoleon Hill

Here’s a true story illustrating how success consciousnesslaunched a young man into a growing industry in a novel and dramatic way, and caused him to lead his entire field with new ideas. This young man lived in Salt Lake City several decades ago. He was an industrious fellow who worked hard and saved his money. All his friends admired his thrift. Then he did something which caused many of his acquaintances to shake their heads and question his good sense. He took all of his hard earned money, amounting to over $4,000, out of the bank one day, went to New York City to the automobile show, and spent every cent of it for a new car. As if this were not a sufficient display of apparent foolishness, when he got the new automobile home he put it in the garage, jacked up all four wheels and proceeded to take the car apart, piece by piece until he had the whole shop littered with parts. After carefully examining each part, he put the car together again. Folks who saw only his outward action felt that he was just plain wacky. He gave them still further reason to tap their heads and point at him in derision, for he repeated the process of taking the machine apart and reassembling it not once, but many times.
In a few years, those who had scoffed became convinced of his good sense. For that young man was Walter P. Chrysler and when he began making automobiles, his product led the entire industry in worthwhile improvements and innovations which increased the joy of motoring. Little had the casual observers known what had been going on in the young man’s mind. They had lacked the insight and understanding necessary to see a method to his madness. They had never heard of a man’s definiteness of purpose conditioning his mind and deliberately making himsuccess conscious, before he ventured into business.

Story: Definiteness of Purpose
 by: Napoleon Hill

I want to describe my discovery in the simplest terms possible, because it will reveal to you why it is true that whatever YOUR MIND CAN CONCEIVE AND BELIEVE, YOUR MIND CAN ACHIEVE, regardless of how many times you may have failed in the past, or how lofty your aims and hopes may be.
I caught my first fleeting glimpse of this profound law which provides the means by which we may choose our own purpose in life and attain it, while I was being coached by Andrew Carnegie, during the organization of the Science of Success philosophy. I had just finished telling Mr. Carnegie that I feared he had chosen the wrong person to give the world the first practical philosophy of personal success, because of my youth, my lack of education and my lack of finances.
At this point Mr. Carnegie delivered a lecture I shall never forget, because it changed my entire life and paved the way for my helping to change the lives of millions of people, some of them not yet born.
“Let me call your attention to a great power which is under your control,” said Mr. Carnegie, -- “a power which is greater than poverty – greater than the lack of education – greater than all your fears and self-limitations – a power which is the one and only thing you control completely – IT IS THE PRIVILEGE OF CONTROLLING YOUR OWN MIND AND DIRECTING IT TO THE ATTAINMENT OF WHATEVER ENDS YOU DESIRE.
